Time to get rid of some old ways of thinking; your “facial” starts…now. Some things are simply part of life. For example, kids fall, and they get boo-boos. Although knowing that’s normal, doesn’t always help you keep calm as a parent J.
One time Kid #1 fell and hurt himself, and we placed a cute cartoon-character plaster on the boo-boo. All was right and calm again…until it was time to take the plaster off.
Now I’d done some research online, and found out that rubbing oil over the plaster helps it to come off without causing pain (this really does work!) So I got the oil and was approaching my older son, when he backed away. I moved toward him again, but he backed away further. He thought the oil (the remedy) would cause him pain, when in fact, it would keep him from feeling the pain!
I finally managed to convince him to stay put, and that the oil was going the help and not hurt him. Then we were able to get the plaster off with no pain.
This incident got me thinking: how many times does God allow certain situations in or lives, or at times closes certain doors that we had been looking forward to walking through? And how often do we resist those unexpected circumstances, convinced that they’re going to cause us to lose out somehow; yet in retrospect discover that they were helpful, and even kept us from a worse situation?
Romans 8:28 (AMP) says: And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.
So while you should continue to resist the enemy, and his attempts to steal your blessings, you should also keep an open mind when things don’t go the way you were expecting. Because sometimes, it can turn out for the best.
Why not share with us some of your examples of times when things turned out for the best, although it didn’t look like it at the beginning? Please share in the comments below.
